ASHLIE ADAMS

About

Ashlie Adams is an Austin based designer and artist. Her work experience includes production design, art direction, and set decoration for narrative feature and short films, music videos, commercials, and live activations.

She studied theater, set design, and textile design at the University of North Texas. After graduating she moved to East Africa (Uganda and Tanzania). She spent two years working with Kyambogo University's textile program and Department for the Performing Arts and Film, Kitebe teen center, and a multitude of art and humanitarian based non profits in the pursuit to support orphaned youth, refugees, and artist communities. She returned to the States to pursue a degree in Architecture from Portland State University.

Ashlie's film and commercial career is the culmination of her studies, passion for people, sense of humor and eye for detail. Her approach to design is building a world that lives and breathes with all the layers necessary to tell the story, working in collaboration with the director and her team to make magic, with a great understanding of color and light, framing and balance.

Ashlie has a great deal of respect for what goes into creating the work that we do in this industry. A high level of professionalism and knowledge of how to build out a budget, schedules, shot lists, mood boards and design decks, as well as very hands on tech scouting, collaborating closely and comfortably with camera, lighting, scripty and the ability to staff a skilled art crew have gotten her to where she is today.

Her latest film work as production designer has been on a number of features currently in post production that Ashlie is extremely proud of. Due West, a feature film shot in West Texas, directed by Evan Miller, with DP Jonathan Nicholas, and producer Ezra Venetos. It is the story of a woman with limited resources in a remote corner of Texas in need of women's health care and the people who help (and interfere) along the way. American Baby, directed by Ellen Rodnianski, with DP David Khayznikov, about a girl who becomes a pariah in her community when she gets pregnant at 15 and follows her as she deals with the repercussions of being very young and very pregnant in small town Texas. Lastly, Save Muny, a stoner comedy, directed by Austin Nichols, starring Ryan Hansen and Adrienne Palicki, coming soon!

Past commercial and editorial clients include Leon Bridges, Wrangler, Ford Bronco, Toyota Tundra, Target, Snickers, Google, Verizon, AT&T, Select Health Insurance, Lowe's Home Improvement, Tito's Vodka, Shiner Boch, Lonestar Beer, and Boston Brewing Company. xo
